Spanish abstract Conocer la incidencia, los factores asociados y manifestaciones clínicas mas frecuentes de la sífilis congénita en el Hospital General de Culiacán “Dr. Bernardo J. Gastélum”. Material y Métodos. Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo, longitudinal y descriptivo de las variables epidemiológicas, clínicas y de laboratorio de los recién nacidos con diagnóstico de sífilis congénita que ingresaron al servicio de Neonatología del Hospital General de Culiacán durante el periodo del 1 enero del año 2005 al 31 de diciembre del 2008. Resultados: De 18,118 nacimientos durante los cuatro años de estudio se reportaron 30 casos de sífilis congénita con una incidencia global de 0.16% y la incidencia anual en el 2005 fue de 0.06 % y en el año 2008 la incidencia se incrementó al 0.32 %. Los recién nacidos con sífilis congénita tuvieron un peso con un promedio de 2,700g, la edad gestacional varió de 25 semanas de gestación (SDG) a 42 SDG, con un promedio de 36.6 SDG. El diagnóstico se efectuó en el periodo neonatal, en el 100% de los casos todos tuvieron VDRL positivo y en 26 casos (80%) se hizo diagnóstico confirmatorio por medio del FTA ABS IgM, el signo más frecuente encontrado en pacientes con sífilis congénita fue la dificultad respiratoria en casi la mitad de todos los pacientes (46%), le siguieron la afección hepática (33%), esplénica (30%) y piel (26%). En el estudio encontramos que 22 (73%) de las madres con sífilis tenían el antecedente de tener múltiples parejas sexuales. Conclusiones: Se demuestra un incremento considerable de 4 ó 5 veces más en la incidencia de sífilis congénita del 2005 al 2008
English abstract Know the incident, the associate factors and clinical manifestations frequent of the congenital syphilis of General Hospital of Culiacan Dr. Bernardo J. Gastélum. Methods: There was realized a retrospective, longitudinal and descriptive study, of the epidemiological, clinical variables and of laboratory, of the newborn children with diagnosis of congenital syphilis that they deposited to the service of Neonatalogy of Culiacán’s General Hospital during the period on January 1, 2005 to on December 31, 2008. Results: Of 18,118 births during four years of study reported 30 cases of congenital syphilis with a global incident of 0.16 %. And the annual incident in 2005 was 0.06 % and in the year 2008 the incident I increase 0.32 %. The newborn children with congenital syphilis had a weight with an average of 2,700g, the age gestacional changed from 25 SDG to 42 SDG with an average of 36.6 SDG. Conclusions: a considerable increase of 4 demonstrates or 5 times more in the incident of congenital syphilis from 2005 to 2008
