| Spanish abstract | El objetivo de este trabajo es determinar las variables asociadas al peso que la inmigración peruana tiene en el conjunto de la inmigración total en Chile para el período 2005-2014. La hipótesis de inicio es que el flujo migratorio peruano tiene un componente de carácter económico. Los resultados pusieron de manifiesto que un incremento en el Índice de Desa-rrollo Humano (IDH) a favor de Chile aumenta el flujo migratorio. Por otro lado, un mayor presupuesto en educación a favor de Chile disminuye el flujo migratorio de ciudadanos peruanos. Contrariamente a lo esperado, con un aumento en un punto porcentual en el PIB per cápita a favor de Chile, la migración peruana disminuye en 0,61 puntos porcentuales |
| English abstract | The objective of this paper is to determine the variables associated with the share of Peruvian migration out of total immigration into Chile during 2005-2014. The initial hypothesis is that Peruvian migratory flow has a social and economic component. The results showed that a greater increase in the Human Development Index (HDI) for Chile in comparison with Peru increases migratory flow. On the other hand, a higher education budget for Chile relative to Peru decreases the migratory flow of Peruvian citizens. Against expectations, a one percent increase in per capita GDP in Chile decreases the flow of Peruvian migrants by 0.61 percent |
