| Spanish abstract | La sociedad piaroa es una sociedad de la palabra. Con la palabra hecha discurso, los Piaroa crean y recrean la realidad, interviniéndola y transformándola. En este ensayo vamos a evaluar el sistema de categorías geográficas piaroa, especialmente los dos subsistemas que aluden (1) al mundo visible y (2) al mundo invisible; constataremos la manera cómo se construyen las palabras, analizaremos el sistema de jerarquías que de ambos subsistemas se desprende y veremos que tales sistemas son útiles para que el chamán pueda cumplir eficientemente su rol de gerente de la selva |
| English abstract | With the word made discourse the Piaroa create and recreate reality by changing and transforming the same. In this work we will: evaluate the system of Piaroa geographic categories, specifically the two systems that allude to (1) the physical and (2) the metaphysical worlds; establish the manner through which words are construed; analyze the system of hierarchy that emerge from both systems and to see that these systems are useful for the shaman in order to efficiently play-out his role as the forest administrator |
