| Spanish abstract | En este artìculo examinaremos la calle (y lo que la ha reemplazado) en dos tipos contrastantes de urbanismo, el preindustrial de Río de Janeiro y Ouro Preto y el modernista de Brasilia. Nos preguntaremos por lo que nos puedan revelar el diseño y la planeación de las calles en estos ejemplos acerca de la organización urbana en las diferentes ciudades. | English abstract | The purpose of this article is to examine the street (and what has replaced it), in two contrasting urban types: Preindustrial Rio de Janeiro and Ouro Preto and modernist Brasilia. Questions will be asked regarding the design and planning of the streets and what they can reveal about urban organization in these cities. Inquires will be made about the knowledge that this type of organization can offer concerning the nature of political regimes and its relation to society |
