| English abstract | Written in February 1849 , the long poem A lágrima de um caeté shows an interesting literary representation of Praieira Revolution ( 1848 - 1850), the last of the provincial separatist rebellions that s hook the Second Empire in Brazil . In this poem the link between the poetic voice and the Praieira’s heroes expresses the republican aspiration of the authoress, the northeast journalist and writer Nísia Floresta (1810 - 1885) . It represents, in some aspects , her contestation to the national project defended by Imperator D. Pedro II. In this process the text shows clearly the problematic context of our national identity in the first half of the nineteenth century |
| Portuguese abstract | Escrita em fevereiro de 1849, a obra A lágrima de um caeté traz um interessante retrato da Revolução Praieira (1848-1850), última das rebeliões provinciais de caráter separatista que abalaram o Segundo Reinado. Na obra, a adesão da voz poética aos heróis da Revolução Praieira manifesta a aspiração republicana da autora, a potiguar Nísia Floresta (1810-1885), representando, em alguns aspectos, uma contestação ao projeto político e nacional defendido por D. Pedro II. Nesse processo, a obra evidencia o problemático contexto de nossa identidade nacional na primeira metade do século XIX |
