| English abstract | This article examines the life stories of ten teachers of black women English teachers , from Maranhão . It was taken as theoretical reference the Discourse Analysis of the French line and the Cultural Studies , which were articulated with the theories of identity. Having the oral history as methodology , through the narrative of their memories we analyzed the experiences that constituted the process by which teachers negotiated their choices , their struggles and their conflicts to complete the Course of Letters and become English teachers . Besides questioning constitutive aspects of teacher formation, the research also discussed the issue of prejudice and racial discrimination experienced by the teachers and their strategies to fight them in the social spaces they belong to |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo estuda histórias de vida de dez professoras negras de I nglês, do interior do Maranhão. Tomou - se como referencial teórico a Análise do Discurso de Linha Francesa e os Estudos Culturais, os quais se articulam com as teorias de identidade . Tendo como metodologia a História Oral, resgatouse , através das rememorações, as experiências constitutivas do processo pelo qual as docentes negociaram suas escolhas, suas lutas e seus conflitos para concluírem o Curso de Letras e se tornarem professor as de I nglês. Além de problematizar aspectos constitutivos da formação docente, a pesquisa também discute a questão do preconceito e da discriminação racial experienciad o s pelas professoras e suas estratégias para combatê - los nos espaços sociais em que transitam |
