| Spanish abstract | Consideramos que el humanismo se construye a partir del reconocimiento universal del ser humano como persona y dicho reconocimiento no sería posible sin la asunción del principio de la dignidad humana. La dignidad sería un principio deontológico del humanismo en cuanto que no hay razones exógenas que expliquen el valor autorreferencial del ser humano pero que es necesario presuponer para fundamentar los derechos humanos de una forma no excluyente. Ahora bien, este sentido de la dignidad tendría dos grandes enfoques: uno ontológico, que postularía el reconocimiento universal del ser humano como persona y otro nivel ético, que correspondería a la exigencia moral de respetar la autonomía moral de uno mismo y de los demás |
| English abstract | We believe that humanism is built on the universal recognition of the human being as a person and such recognition would not be possible without the assumption of the principle of human dignity. Dignity would be a deontological principle of humanism insofar as there are no exogenous reasons that explain the self-referential value of the human being yet it must be presupposed as a non-exclusive foundation of human rights. Now, this sense of dignity would have two main focuses: one ontological, postulating the universal recognition of the human being as a person and another ethical level, which would correspond to the moral requirement to respect the moral autonomy of oneself and others |
