| Spanish abstract | Este artículo invita a la discusión respecto a ciertas manifestaciones artísticas encontradas en la arquitectura de algunos templos, ubicados en lo que fuera el norte novohispano, en los cuales se aprecian pervivencias de decorado de tradición mudéjar en forma de esgrafiados y rejuntados, característicos en las zonas rurales españolas por la economía de su hechura. El análisis se centra tanto en el esgrafiado denominado de "lágrima o gota", como en las formas figurativas que decoran los muros del corpus aquí analizado, para, mediante ello, señalar que aún existen elementos de análisis en forma de pervivencias, los cuales dan razón de la influencia mudéjar en Hispanoamérica y de cómo éstas adquirieron un lenguaje y simbolismo propios |
| English abstract | This article sets out to initiate debate concerning certain artistic manifestations found in church architecture located in Nothern New Spain, in which survivals of the Mudéjar decorative tradition can be appreciated in the form of incised graffito and raised decorative pointing, which portray an economy of execution that is characteristic to Spains rural zones. The analysis centers on both the type of graffito figure known as lágrima (tear) or gota (drop) and on the figurative forms that decorate the walls of the corpus analyzed here, so as to show the survival of elements which evidence Mudéjar influence in Spanish America and to show how these survivals acquired a language and symbolism of their own |
