| Spanish abstract | La presente investigación tiene como objetivo principal ofrecer un análisis sistemático de la noción del absurdo en la obra del filósofo y escritor Albert Camus, con especial énfasis en su ensayo El mito de Sísifo. La noción se presenta, en primera instancia, en diálogo con la tradición de filosofía existencialista para luego mostrar el modo particular que dicha categoría toma en el pensamiento de Camus. El absurdo se manifiesta de dos formas: como un sentimiento y como una noción. Camus aborda ambas vertientes, para finalmente dar una respuesta al problema que engloba el absurdo: el divorcio entre la finitud de la conciencia humana y el mundo como absoluto. La respuesta es, entonces, un llamado a la lucha por la vida y a la afirmación de la existencia sobre el quiebre. Se ha buscado un equilibrio metodológico entre las formas literarias de Camus, por un lado, y su pensamiento filosófico por otro, para así argumentar por la especificidad y relevancia de la noción del absurdo tanto en su obra, como en su influencia |
| English abstract | The present study offers a systematic analysis of the notion of the absurd in the work of the philosopher and writer Albert Camus, with a special emphasis on his essay The Myth of Sisyphus. Firstly, the notion is presented in dialogue with the tradition of philosophy called existentialism, as a basis for understanding the specific way this category is present in Camus own work. The absurd is manifested in two fundamental ways: as a feeling and as a notion. Camus discusses both of these strands, and gives a response to the problematic in which they are both captured, namely, the divorce between the finite human consciousness, and the world as an absolute. The answer is, then, a call for the struggle of life and the affirmation of existence over that struggle. We have tried to find a methodological equilibrium between, on the one side, Camus’s literary remarks, and on the other side, his strictly philosophical account, in order to argue for the specificity and relevance of the notion of the absurd in his work, and its influences |
