| Resumen en español | El objetivo del presente artículo es identificar a las instituciones de crédito que operaron en el estado de Veracruz durante el porfiriato. Ello, con la finalidad de ampliar la postura historiográfica sobre la presencia típica de únicamente tres instituciones bancarias en los estados. Partimos de la hipótesis de que, a raíz de la débil regulación en materia bancaria, el marco institucional porfiriano fue incapaz de regular a todas las instituciones de crédito; en consecuencia, operó una gran cantidad de instituciones de crédito sin concesión. Asimismo, realizaremos una breve exploración sobre el desenvolvimiento de los bancos sin concesión, los cuales se encontraban al margen de la regulación bancaria de la Ley General de Instituciones de Crédito de 1897. |
| Resumen en inglés | The aim of this article is to identify the credit institutions that operated in the state of Veracruz during the porfiriato in order to widen the historiographical position that sustains the typical presence of only three banking institutions in the states. We start from the hypothesis that as a result of the weak regulation in banking matters, the porfirian institutional framework was unable to regulate all credit institutions; consequently, a number of credit institutions operated without concession. Likewise, we will carry out a brief exploration of the development of banks without concession, which were outside the banking regulation of the General Law of Credit Institutions of 1897. |
