| Spanish abstract | El ensayo comienza con una definición general de literatura infantil y juvenil para concentrarse en la narrativa. Proporciona al lector una mirada panorámica de conceptos como el género narrativo en la literatura infantil, los subgéneros con que éste se relaciona y sus modalidades temáticas o estilísticas. Para mostrar claramente las diferencias, menciona y describe algunas de las múltiples modalidades temáticas que corresponden a la novela, la novela corta y el cuento dentro de la literatura infantil. Más adelante, el estudio se dirige hacia el tema de la posmodernidad, la condición posmoderna y su influjo en la literatura infantil y juvenil. De acuerdo con la autora, la subversión ha sido uno de los más claros rasgos de la literatura infantil de todos los tiempos; no obstante, este elemento recibe un nuevo tratamiento durante la época posmoderna: la subversión afecta a la misma subversión dando como resultado una neo-subversión |
| English abstract | Starting with a general definition of children and young adult’s literature, this essay concentrates on narrative. It gives the reader a panoramic view of concepts such as the narrative genre in children’s literature, the sub-genres related to it, and their thematic or style modalities. To make differences clear, it mentions and describes some of the multiple thematic modalities that correspond to children’s novel, short novel and stories. Afterwards, the essay moves on to postmodernism, the postmodern condition, and the way it affects and engages children and young adult’s literature. According to the author, subversion has been one of the most distinctive characteristics of children’s literature of all times; nevertheless, this element is treated differently during the postmodern age: subversion affects the same subversion resulting into a neo-subversion |
