| English abstract | In this paper, we aim at discussing parameters and criteria to characterize text categories which can be considered as types, genres or species (Travaglia, 2007a). Such characterization is essential for identifying and distinguishing the categories to which texts can pertain. Our proposal is that the different criteria for this purpose can be grouped according to five distinct parameters: a) the content; b) the compositional structure; c) the socio-communicative objectives and functions of the category; d) the linguistic surface characteristics, generally in correlation with other parameters; and e) elements that can be attributed to the production conditions of the text category |
| Portuguese abstract | O objetivo neste artigo é discutir parâmetros e critérios para caracterizar categorias de texto, sejam tipos, gêneros ou espécies (TRAVAGLIA, [2003]2007a). Essa caracterização é fundamental para a identificação e distinção das categorias a que os textos podem pertencer. Nossa proposta é que os diferentes critérios para este fim podem ser agrupados segundo cinco parâmetros distintos: a) o conteúdo; b) a estrutura composicional; c) os objetivos e funções sóciocomunicativas da categoria; d) as características da superfície lingüística, geralmente em correlação com outros parâmetros; e) elementos que podem ser atribuídos às condições de produção da categoria de texto |
