| English abstract | The Brazilian educator Paulo Freire, as well as frameworks based on the Science-Technology-Society (STS) approach, defend the use of thematic subjects in curricular developments. The problem of the present research appeared in an attempt of bringing together these two references, that is, which the nature of these thematic subjects? Freire and the STS are talking the same thing? The central objective of this search is to deepen theoretical and methodological aspects of the relation between generative themes, conceptualized appraised by Paulo Freire, and thematic subjects articulated with the approach STS. This investigation is of bibliographical nature, using periodic sources, proceedings of events and didactic guidebooks. The results are presented in five categories: a) Scope of the themes; b) Emerging of the subjects; c) Subject-matter involved in the construction of the theme; d) Relation theme/content and e) Traditional subject matter designated as theme. | Portuguese abstract | O educador brasileiro Paulo Freire, assim como referenciais ligados ao enfoque Ciência-Tecnologia- Sociedade (CTS), defendem o uso de temas nos encaminhamentos curriculares. Tendo como pano de fundo uma tentativa de aproximação entre estes dois referenciais, surge o problema da presente pesquisa, ou seja, qual a natureza destes temas? Freire e o enfoque CTS estão falando da mesma coisa? Como objetivo central desta busca-se aprofundar aspectos teórico-metodológicos da relação entre temas geradores, conceituados por Paulo Freire, e temas articulados ao enfoque CTS. Constitui-se numa pesquisa de cunho bibliográfico, utilizando-se como fontes: periódicos, anais de eventos, coletânea de cadernos e guias didáticos. Como resultados, destacam-se cinco categorias: a) Abrangência dos temas; b) Surgimento dos temas; c) Disciplinas envolvidas na estruturação do tema, d) Relação tema/conteúdo e e) Conteúdo tradicional designado de tema |
