| English abstract | This article presents an analysis of the novel O continente (1949), by Erico Veríssimo, verifying what kind of historical novel it fits, or it is closer: whether the traditional historical novel, from the nineteenth century, according to the George Lukács’ theoretical model, or the new historical novel, according the model which appeared from the second half of twentieth century on, according to Fernando Ainsa (1991) and Seymour Menton’s (1993) conceptualization, or even whether if fits an intermediate type between the two subdivisions |
