| Spanish abstract | Se propone una aplicación práctica del concepto de Pathosformeln, acuñado por Aby Warburg, en los estudios literarios como nexo entre las imágenes representativas y visuales, las imágenes mentales originadas en las descripciones literarias y las emociones que ellas comunican. Se escoge un corpus de ocho crónicas latinoamericanas, desde modernistas hasta el siglo xxi, cuyo tema es la prostitución travesti, con un énfasis en la exacerbación de la feminidad de sus protagonistas y el punto de vista de los narradores al respecto, recurriendo al concepto de performatividad de género según Judith Butler. Mediante un análisis comparativo de las representaciones de la prostituta travesti en los textos, se discute la aplicabilidad del concepto así como las diferencias con el uso de este en las artes visuales |
| English abstract | A practical application of the concept of Pathosformeln, coined by Aby Warburg, is proposed in literary studies, as a link between representative and visual images, mental images originating from literary descriptions, and the emotions they communicate. A corpus of eight Latin American chronicles is chosen, from modernist to the 21st century, whose theme is transvestite prostitution, with an emphasis on the exacerbation of the femininity of its protagonists and the point of view of the narrators in this regard, resorting to the concept of gender performativity according to Judith Butler. Through a comparative analysis of the representations of the transvestite prostitute in the texts, the applicability of the concept is discussed, as well as the differences with its use in the field of the visual arts |
