| Spanish abstract | El estado de Guerrero, México, cuenta con amplia diversidad de recursos fitogenéticos, incluidos los referentes a Cucurbita spp., y conocer su riqueza permite definir estrategias para su estudio, conservación y aprovechamiento. Se realizó la recolecta de recursos genéticos de Cucurbita spp., con el fin de promover su conservación y usar en programas de mejoramiento genético. Durante los años 2012-2013 se recolectaron frutos y semillas para realizar su caracterización preliminar la cual evidenció la existencia de amplia diversidad interespecífica, destacando C. moschata con amplia variación en formas, texturas y coloración de fruto, además de registrar múltiples usos alimenticios en que se emplean los frutos, flores, brotes vegetativos tiernos y semilla que lo posicionan como un cultivo importante en el estado de Guerrero |
| English abstract | The state of Guerrero, México, has a broad diversity of phytogenetic resources, including those related to Cucurbita spp., and understanding their wealth allows defining strategies for their study, conservation and use. A collection of Cucurbita spp. genetic resources was performed, with the aim of promoting their conservation and using them in genetic improvement programs. During 2012-2013, fruits and seeds were collected to carry out their preliminary characterization, which evidenced the existence of broad inter-specific diversity, with C. moschata standing out with a broad variation in shapes, textures and coloring of the fruit, in addition to showing multiple dietary uses in which the fruits, flowers, tender vegetative shoots and seeds are used. This makes it an important crop in the state of Guerrero |
