| Spanish abstract | El tratamiento para la discopatía cervical tiene tres metas: disminuir el dolor, mejorar la función y evitar la recurrencia. Es común la fusión con injerto, placas y cajas ocasionando una mayor fusión con la necesidad de otras intervenciones. La prótesis de disco es una alternativa que mantiene la movilidad del segmento afectado, disminuye la sobrecarga e impide la fusión de los espacios intervertebrales, aliviando el dolor y mejorando la movilidad. En este paciente se usó una prótesis de dos placas cromo-cobalto cubierta de titanio con superficie rugosa que facilita el crecimiento de hueso y permite la movilidad como alternativa de tratamiento para la hernia de disco, considerándola una cirugía de mínima invasión y rápida recuperación |
| English abstract | Treatment for discopathy has 3 goals: diminish pain, improve function and avoid recurrence. Fusion with graft, plates and cages is common, leading to greater fusion needing other interventions. Total disc arthroplasty is an alternative that maintains mobility of the affected segment, diminishes overload and impedes fusion of intersomatic spaces, relieving pain and improving mobility. In this patient, an implant made of 2 chrome-cobalt plates covered with rugged surfaced titanium that helps bone growth and permits mobility was used as an alternative of treatment to disc herniation considering it a minimally invasive and rapid rehabilitation surgery |
