Spanish abstract Introducción: la enfermedad de Parkinson es un proceso degenerativo complejo del sistema nervioso central de inicio insidioso progresivo y desarrollo lento que es consecuencia de una lesión idiopática en el sistema extrapiramidal. Objetivo: caracterizar a los pacientes con enfermedad de Parkinson pertenecientes al Municipio de Cifuentes de octubre de 2013 a octubre de 2019. Métodos: se realizó un estudio observacional de tipo descriptivo, transversal en el Municipio de Cifuentes, de la Provincia de Villa Clara. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por 34 pacientes. Resultados: se encontró predominio de los pacientes en el grupo de edades de 61 a 70 años y el sexo masculino. El temblor de reposo fue la principal manifestación clínica motora (91,17%). Los participantes manifestaron niveles elevados de fatigabilidad y alteración de la destreza manual tanto en la mano derecha como en la izquierda. La destreza manual del miembro superior derecho se relacionó con las variables de funcionalidad. La severidad del dolor se correlacionó positivamente con la funcionalidad manual. Conclusiones: los pacientes entre 61 y 70 años de edad y sexo masculino poseen mayor riesgo de desarrollar enfermedad de Parkinson. El temblor de reposo es la principal manifestación clínica. La terapéutica medicamentosa inicial con levodopa y carbidopa constituye el primer eslabón. La presencia de alteraciones musculoesqueléticas en un grupo de personas con diagnóstico de enfermedad de Parkinson repercute negativamente en los niveles de independencia funcional
English abstract Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a complex degenerative process of the central nervous system of insidious progressive start and slow development, that the extrapyramidal is consequence of an idiopathic lesion in the system. Objective: to characterize patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at Cifuentes municipality from October 2013 to October 2019. Methods: a descriptive, cross-sectional, observational study was carried out in the health areas of Cifuentes from October 2013 to October 2019. The study population consisted of 34 patients, the population coincides with the study sample. Results: the age group from 61 to 70 was the most affected, and the masculine sex. Rest tremor was the main clinical manifestation, being present at the 91,17 % of the patients. A relationship was found between the outcomes PD severity, tremor, dexterity, fatigue and pain with the functionality variables. Conclusions: patients between 61 and 70 years of age and male have a higher risk of developing Parkinson's disease, ages over 60 is one of the most important predisposing factor. These refer to resting tremor as the main clinical manifestation, being diagnosed in mild stage mainly. The initial drug therapy with levodopa and carbidopa constitutes the first line of treatment. The presence of alterations musculoskeletal in a group of people with diagnosis of EP it has influence negatively in the levels of functional independence
