| English abstract | Based on the representations of the American Indians of the Sixteenth Century (the noble savage and the sauvage convertible) found in the “French catholic corpus of writings about América”, considered as “preparatory myths” of the theory of natural goodness of the Indian in the the Eighteenth Century, the aim of this paper is to point out some of their uses, their cultural patterns (concurrent in related works such as the contemporary “huguenot corpus”) and the theological-political intentions of the literate projects in which they were produced |
