English abstract This article is an investigation in cultural history that approaches a revolutionary nationalist project: the Mural painting that, the same as other arts of the first half of the XX century, was a mechanism of integration that favored the construction of the national identity in Mexico. The thematic mural that Diego Rivera developed was fomented by a movement of vindication of the rural and native sectors but that, in fact, it would be only a symbolic integration during the arduous process of conformation of the new nation, in the revolutionary Mexico. The Mexican culture would obtain, this way, ambiguous expressions of identity
