| Resumen en español | El primer comentador de Aristóteles, Avempache, seguido por Averroes y la tradición árabe musulmana, juega un rol importante en el problema de la imaginación humana, distinguiendo tres niveles, a saber: 1) Epistemológico: la imaginación como rol mediador entre los sentidos externos e internos y la razón, entre lo material y lo espiritual, lo individual y lo general; 2) Como motor de vida: promotor de una vida ideal “movible” que, asistida por la razón, tiende a mejorar y engendrar el deseo y la pasión por alcanzar el ideal mencionado, pero sobre y hecho con 3) Dimensiones morales y sociales: éstas también están divididas en tres formas de vida dependiendo del grado espiritual y, dado el placer que ofrecen, se hacen atractivas para cada individuo, resultando ser decisivas para su forma de vida: a) formas corporales, b) formas espirituales y, finalmente, c) formas espirituales de segundo grado, siendo estas últimas cercanas al objetivo supremo: la contemplación de los inteligibles inmateriales y la unión mística con el Intelecto Agente, consiguiendo, en consecuencia, un misticismo intelectual |
| Resumen en inglés | Aristotle's first commentator, namely, Avempace, followed by Averroes and the Arab Muslim tradition, has an important role regarding the issue of human imagination when distinguishing three levels of it, which are the following: 1) Epistemological: imagination with a mediating role between external as well as the internal senses and reason, between material and spiritual, the individual and the general; 2) As life's motor: supporting an ideal “movable” life which, assisted by reason, tends to improve and engender the desire and passion for reaching the mentioned ideal, but over and done with; and 3) Moral and social dimensions: which are also divided in three forms of life depending on the spiritual degree and, because of the pleasure they offer, they become attractive to each individual, turning out to be decisive in their way of life: a) corporeal forms, b) spiritual forms and, finally, c) second degree spiritual forms, these last enclosing the supreme objective, that is, the immaterial intelligibles' contemplation and the mystical union with the Agent Intellect, hence achieving as a consequence an intellectual mysticism |
