| Resumen en inglés | The aim of this text is to discuss the complex relationships among literature, market and the perception reader shave about the author’s social role and character. Considering that today the bourgeois reader believes that when the author is famous he, the author, is someone that belongs to the public domain, i. e., belongs to the reader as merchandise the reader can bye. In case the reader considers the author’s work “very difficult”, and if he does not understand the author’s book, the bourgeois reader feels happy by supposing that he can own the author himself, as we can perceive through Coetzee’s Summertime. Taking the inter-relationship between life experience and aesthetic experience as a starting point and method of analysis, this article studies the narrative by Coetzee (2009), in its connection with the theme of this essay |
| Resumen en portugués | O objetivo deste texto é discutir a relação hoje muito complexa entre a literatura, o mercado e a percepção que o leitor tem de seu papel, caráter e personalidade, uma vez que o burguês comprador pressupõe que o autor, quando célebre, é uma pessoa de domínio público. Quando o autor é considerado “difícil”, o leitor não a compreende, mas contenta-se em pensar que pode também possuir o autor/a autora. Tomando como ponto de partida a junção de experiência de vida e experiência estética, o artigo apoia-se na obra de J. M. Coetzee, em especial a narrativa híbrida de Verão (2009; 2010) |
