| Resumen en portugués | Depois de situar brevemente o tema do espelho do rosto materno no contexto do que Winnicott escreve sobre o desenvolvimento afetivo da criança e Lacan sobre o estádio do espelho na constituição do eu, o artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre as principais metamorfoses do espelho do rosto materno na formação do self, analisando sucessivamente suas vicissitudes como espelho mágico, espelho-vidro e espelho verdadeiro e suas implicações teóricas no processo da formação do falso e do verdadeiro self da criança |
