| Resumen en español | El concepto de sustentabilidad no tiene una definición única. La definición brindada por el Reporte Brundtland o “Nuestro Futuro Común” “Satisfacer las necesidades presentes sin sacrificar las necesidades futuras” solamente es una descripción. Sin embargo también es ambigua, ya que el término necesidades se puede definir según sea el conjunto de valores manejado por el individuo o un grupo social determinado. De manera similar, no existe un consenso sobre lo que es una tecnología sustentable. Por tanto, tampoco existe una definición única sobre lo que constituye una energía sustentable. En el presente trabajo se proponen algunas características para definir o describir una tecnología sustentable, que sirvan como base para definir e identificar la tecnología energética sustentable. De esta manera, se podrá tener una base conceptual para poder discernir si una tecnología energética es sustentable o no |
| Resumen en inglés | The concept of sustainability has no single definition. The definition given in the Brundtland Report or “Our Common Future” “to satisfy present needs without compromising the needs of future generation” is only a description. However, it is also a vague one because the term needs is defined according to the values set by an individual or a social group. Accordingly, there is no consensus on what is a sustainable technology. Therefore, there is no unique definition what is a sustainable energy. In this work, some characteristics to define or describe a sustainable technology are proposed, to serve as a basis to define and identify a sustainable energy technology. Therefore, some conceptual principles will be available to decide if an energy technology is sustainable |
