| Resumen en español | En Monsieur Pain de Bolaño asistimos al duelo de la modernidad bajo la forma de los retornos de lo reprimido de una memoria traumática. Valiéndose del género neopolicial y de rasgos de lo fantástico, se vehicula una estética de lo siniestro para expresar lo ominoso, los efectos devastadores de la Guerra Civil Española. El cuerpo agónico de César Valleio será el futuro cadáver exquisito en este recorrido por el mausoleo de la memoria, representando así la muerte de la vanguardia poética latinoamericana. Proponemos que el tópico del cuerpo agónico en un hospital y la crítica al saber médico moderno se hallan prefigurados en el poema "Las ventanas se han estremecido" de César Vallejo, siendo esta novela una suerte de tributo y homenaje al poeta peruano, en tanto símbolo de la orfandad del exílio y el carácter subalterno, periférico de la vanguardia latinoamericana; una de las utopias de la modernidad |
| Resumen en inglés | In Monsieur Pain by Bolaño we assist to a proces of mourning of modernity under the form of the return of a repressed traumatic memory. Using the neo-detective genre together with features from the fantastic genre, Bolaño brings up an aesthetic of the sinister in order to expres the ominous, the devastating effects of the Spanish Civil War. César Vallejo's dying body becomes the future exquisite corpse in this tour through the mausoleum of memory, therefore, representing the death of Latin American poetic avantgarde. It is proposed that the topic of the dying body in a hospital together with the criticism of modern medical knowledge are both prefigured in the poem "The windows were shaken" by César Vallejo. being this novel a kind of tribute and homage to the Peruvian poet as a symbol of the orphan nature of exile and the subordinate and peripheral nature of Latin American avant-garde art, one of the utopias of modernity |
