| Resumen en inglés | The 1960s were marked by major behavioral changes that influenced society from the youth to the mu-sic industry. One of the great responsible for this revolution was rock and roll, that had the band The Beatles like main reference of a whole generation. The research analyzed, through the Semiotics, the cultural manifestations of the cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, of the Beatles, to interpret the signs that compose it. The study was based on the definition of the concept of culture and social historical context of the 1960s, the influence of 1960s music and the Beatles’ trajectory and the semiotic analysis of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The methodological procedures used were: explorato-ry, descriptive, primary, secondary, bibliographical and documentary. Through semiotics, it was possible to understand and identify the meanings present in the text analyzed and to relate the signs to the cul-tural manifestations of the time. It was understood that such manifestations reflected the society of the 1960s, since the personalities analyzed broke standards and rules, which portrays the moment of broad behavioral changes and in society, during the period in which the record was recorded |
| Resumen en portugués | A década de 1960 foi marcada por grandes mudanças comportamentais que influenciaram a sociedade desde a juventude até a indústria fonográfica. Um dos grandes responsáveis por essa revolução foi o rock and roll, que teve a banda The Beatles como principal referência de toda uma geração. A pesquisa analisou, por meio da semiótica, as manifestações culturais da capa do disco Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, dos Beatles, para identificar os signos que a compõem. O estudo se deu pela definição do conceito de cultura e do contexto histórico social da década de 1960, a influência da música da década de 1960 e a trajetória dos Beatles e a análise semió-tica da capa do disco Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Os procedimentos metodológicos utilizados foram as pesquisas: exploratória, descritiva, primária, secundária, bibliográfica e do-cumental. Por meio da semiótica foi possível compreender e identificar os significados presentes no texto analisado e relacionar os signos às manifestações culturais da época. Entendeu-se que tais manifestações refletiram a sociedade da década de 1960, já que as personalidades analisadas quebraram padrões e regras, o que retrata o momento de amplas mudanças comportamentais e na sociedade, no período em que o disco foi gravado |
