| Resumen en español | Este artigo apresenta a biobibliografia e a atuação do bibliófilo, arquivista e bibliotecário negro, Arturo Alfonso Schomburg na organização e coleta de recursos informacionais representantes da experiência e do pensamento negro, africano e da diáspora africana. Reflete sobre a memorabilia negra e importância de coleções negras para a preservação da memória, história e cultura de povos marginalizados em sociedades ocidentais racializadas. Em seguida, destaca a ação política de Schomburg na criação e curadoria de coleções negras, em especial, sua coleção particular que foi crucial para o início do Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, que até torna acessível informações sobre contribuição da população negra e afrodiaspórica às futuras gerações. Espera-se que a presente pesquisa instigue mais estudos históricos da biblioteconomia negra, especialmente, no combate ao discurso hegemônico que invisibiliza e torna ausentes a contribuição de atores negros em diversas esferas sociais, profissionais e epistêmicas |
| Resumen en inglés | This article presents the biobibliography and the role of the black bibliophile, archivist and librarian, Arturo Alfonso Schomburg, in the organization and collection of informational resources representing black, African and African diaspora experience and thought. It reflects on black memorabilia and the importance of black collections for preserving the memory, history and culture of marginalized peoples in racialized western societies. Highlights Schomburg's political action in the creation and curation of black collections, in particular, his private collection, which was crucial for the beginning of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, which even makes accessible the contribution of the black and Afro-diasporic population to the future generations. We hoped that the present research will instigate more historical studies of black librarianship, especially in the fight against the hegemonic discourse that makes the contribution of black actors in different social, professional and epistemic spheres invisible and absent |
