| Resumen en español | En el presente ensayo se tiene como propósito destacar de qué manera los llamados grupos “marginados” de la sociedad buscan la satisfacción de un bien de consumo necesario como lo es la vivienda. Así también, se analiza el papel que juegan los grupos precaristas en una localidad como lo es Ciudad Juárez, la cual constituye en la actualidad la frontera de mayor importancia económica del país. La limitada participación del Estado en la oferta de vivienda ha llevado a estos grupos a satisfacer la demanda de este bien a través de la autoconstrucción, esto es, al margen de los mecanismos del mercado formal. Los grupos precaristas constituyen grandes contingentes de población en los cuales descansa la economía fronteriza. En esta localidad, este sector ha accedido al bien vivienda a través de la obtención del suelo urbano, en la mayoría de las veces por la vía de la invasión. Para lograr lo anterior, la ayuda mutua o solidaria, constituye la clave que les permite iniciar el largo camino, cuyo fin último es la obtención de una vivienda definitiva |
| Resumen en inglés | This essay aims to highlight how the group called "outcasts" of society are endeavoring to satisfy a consumer need such as housing. Also, we analyze the role of squatter groups in a locality such as Juarez city, which is currently the most economically important frontier of the country. The limited state involvement in housing supply, has led these groups to meet the demand of this commodity through the self, that is, outside the formal market mechanisms. Squatter groups are large groups of people on which rests the border economy. In this town, these groups have entered the housing either by obtaining urban land in most of the time by way of the invasion. To achieve this mutual aid or solidarity is the key that allows them to begin the long journey whose ultimate goal is to obtain permanent housing.
