Resumen en inglés | The content of the article presents the results of the research, which is focused on the study of pedagogical strategies to work and strengthen the self-care habits of adults with moderate intellectual disability, with a group of six students older than 18 years of the group "SIN BARRERAS" of the municipality of Bello-Antioquia. This study was carried out between the dates of March 03, 2018 and November 10, 2018. The intervention was oriented qualitatively with participatory action research methodology. instruments were used as observation cards for study objects and surveys for parents and / or guardians of students with moderate intellectual disability. Where their findings showed that parents want their children to acquire the basic habits of self-care, but do not work on these practical strategies so that they acquire learning as it should be. It was also evident that most parents and / or guardians of adults with intellectual disabilities of the "Sin Barreras" Group perform the daily activities of self-care, for different reasons, including saving time, polishing what the adult I realize with a disability, because I am not well done. But they do not give the space for them to carry out these activities on their own, creating in them the total dependence on these activities of self-care, which in the long run generates anguish in the parents and / or guardians.With the development of the research it was possible to carry out strategies for self-care which were embodied in a didactic booklet whose name is DISCOVERING A NEW WORLD.
