Resumen en inglés | This paper analyzes approaches currently used in structural design analysis in steel buildings, exploring different researches that analyzed behavior of structures and the reliability of those results. Converges toward the notion that structural analysis has sense wherever load and seismic demand toward a structure, find appropiate response capacity provided by a efficient structural design. Approaches can be divided into: platic and deterministic approach, probabilistic approaches based on limit states for each structural member and structural reliability approaches based in Limit States for the structural system as a whole. Is concluded that to the extent that is possible to predict with some certainty the produced stress by earthquakes and the response capacity of the structure to withstand such demand, buildings can be projected with an adequate level of reliability in its performance |
