Resumen en inglés | Chemoresistance is a specific resistance acquired by any cell to the action of certain chemicals. Most of the cancer patients, who initially respond to chemotherapy, will have a progression or recurrence sometimes after treatment. Multi-drug resistance (MDR) is the principal mechanism by which many cancers develop resistance to chemotherapy drugs. Genetic and resistance bacteria research plus DNA recombinant techniques had help to understand the resistance mechanism of cancer cells. The study of cells genetic mutation that develops resistance, have define two types of resistance: an intrinsic and acquire. The expression of MDR1 gene in tumors with intrinsic and acquire resistance, suggests his participation into the mechanism of chemoresistance. The cellular phenotype of MDR is a consequence of a genetic abnormality that increased proteins production, consistently inhibits the action of some drugs. For example slow growing cells could be resistant to chemotherapy that specifically works into that enzyme. The epothilones A and B can inhibit P-glycoprotein- who is responsible of drug resistance. Azaepothilone B (ixabepilone) belongs to a novel class of drugs that stops cell division because they are nontaxane microtubule-stabilizingagent |
