| Resumen en inglés | The Araucaria forest has a significant economic potential and a great ability to compose silvopastoral and agroforestry system. These characteristics create the need for new studies that relate possible effects of the interaction between the Araucaria species that are part of intercropping systems. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of the needles of Araucaria angustifolia on the germination and early development of seeds of Lactuca sativa. For that purpose, different tests were performed both with crushed and intact needles, all treatments were compared with the control to determine the interference in the germination of lettuce seeds. The control reached 100% germination, and the treatments of intact and crushed needles under the seed did not differ from the control ones in the end of the experiment. However, germination rate index of the crushed needles treatment under the seeds differed from the control by presenting a value much lower than the average. Regarding the treatment with intact and crushed needles on the seed, they had a germination rate index (2.87 and 0.00) and germination rate (46% and 0%), respectively, lower than the control values. Thus, the needles of A. angustifolia interfere in the seed germination of L. sativa, suggesting an allelopathic effect |
| Resumen en portugués | A floresta de Araucária apresenta um significativo potencial econômico, além de uma grande capacidade de compor sistemas agroflorestais e silvipastoris. Tais características geram a necessidade de novos estudos que relacionem possíveis efeitos da interação entre a Araucária sobre as espécies que integram os sistemas consorciados. Assim, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo verificar os possíveis efeitos da acícula de Araucaria angustifolia sobre a germinação e desenvolvimento inicial de sementes de Lactuca sativa. Para isso, foram realizados diferentes testes com acículas trituradas e intactas. Todos os tratamentos foram comparados com o controle para determinar a interferência na germinabilidade das sementes de alface. O controle atingiu 100% de germinabilidade, sendo que os tratamentos de acícula inteira e triturada sob a semente não diferiram do controle ao término do experimento. Entretanto o índice de velocidade de germinação do tratamento acícula triturada sob as sementes diferiu do controle apresentando um valor bem abaixo da média. Com respeito aos tratamentos com acícula inteira e triturada sobre a semente, estes obtiveram índice de velocidade de germinação (2,87 e 0,00) e taxa de germinabilidade (46% e 0%), respectivamente, valores inferiores ao controle. Dessa forma, a acícula de A. angustifolia interfere na germinabilidade das sementes de L. sativa, sugerindo um efeito alelopático |
