| Resumen en español | Esta conferencia destaca la importancia de la teoría de Arendt sobre el origen del totalitarismo de la primera mitad del siglo XX y su caracterización del sistema como extrapolítico y extrahistórico. Los excesos de la violencia que caracterizan al totalitarismo lo ubicarían fuera de los límites característicos que definen culturalmente a la humanidad europea. | Resumen en inglés | This lecture highlights the importance of Arendt’s theory about the origin of the totalitarianism of the first half of the twentieth century and her characterization of the system as unpolitical and unhistorical. The violent excesses that are a feature of totalitarianism can be said to place it beyond the characteristic bounds that have culturally defined European humanity. We are still interested in her bold approach, which sets limits to two major human activities: politics and possible historical initiatives |
