| Resumen en inglés | In the commemoration of the 470th anniversary of the arrival of the Society of Jesus in Brazil, considering that the vicissitudes and setbacks of national history and that of Jesus’ Company get confused, this article intends to recover some aspects of this history of almost five centuries. To do so, it makes a cut and turns to the small space located in the southern part of the country, Santa Catarina. More specifically, the performance of this religious order in this state during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, therefore in the dawn of colonization. | Resumen en portugués | Na comemoração dos 470 anos da chegada da Companhia de Jesus ao Brasil, considerando que as vicissitudes e revezes da história nacional e a dessa Companhia de Jesus passaram a confundir-se, este artigo pretende resgatar alguns aspectos dessa história de quase cinco séculos. Para tanto, faz um recorte e volta-se ao pequeno espaço situado na parte sul do país, Santa Catarina. Mais especificamente à atuação dessa ordem religiosa nesse estado durante os séculos XVI e XVII, portanto no alvorecer da colonização. Recordando os cinquenta anos da fundação do Regional Sul IV da CNBB, o artigo opta pela tentativa do resgate da memória remota, buscando lançar um fio de luz à memória atual |
