| Resumen en inglés | The article discusses the sociological implications of the ethnomethodological proposal to examine the operations that people undertake in assigning meaning to the factual do- main which guides them in conducting their everyday affairs. Specifically, this proposal implies (1) an affirmation of the unique and localized (as opposed to generic and tran- scendent) character of structural constraints on human conduct and (2) the postulation of an antifoundationalist sociology of knowledge, so called because it denies the possi- bility of any "ultimate" foundation for the validation of knowledge |
| Otro resumen | Cet article présente une discussion des implications sociologiques de la revendication faite par l'ethnométodologie de récupération de l'examen des opérations que les per- sonnes entreprennent afin de donner un sens au domaine factuel qui les oriente dans la conduite de leurs affaires quotidiennes. Ces implications constituent, d'un côté, I' affir- mation du caractere unique et situé (en opposition à générique et transcendant) des as- sujettissements structurels de la conduite humaine et, d'un autre côté, la postulation d'une Sociologie anti-"fondementaliste" de la connaissance, c'est à dire, d'une Sociologie qui nie I' existence possible de tout fondement "deritier" de validation de la connaissance |
