Resumen en inglés In this article, the authors talk about their experiences in a «psychiatric» unit that goes round the city of Marseilles to observe how homeless people take public space up. Homeless people that suffer from psychiatric diseases are on the fringes of society in two ways, that is the reason why their way of living is a question itself. After establishing the context, the authors will present four cases they have found: “The woman of the car’s place”, “the man in the parking lot”, “the man in front of the pub”, “the woman in the phone booth”; Each one of them has a unique way to take up-to inhabit the public space, during the day or the night. You will discover another facet of the city of Marseilles, the one of the spaces left behind by former inhabitants, where is possible for others to find a shelter, even a flimsy one. Key-words: city, homeless, Marseille, public space, shelter, to live in
