| Resumen en español | Se explora la definición y categorización que del ambiente páramo hacen los habitantes tradicionales de la Parroquia San Rafael del Municipio Rangel del estado Mérida. Se parte de la idea y definición de espacio, lugar y paisaje que plantean autores como Tilley (1994), Mitchell (2000) e Ingold(2000), donde la relación gente – páramo trasciende la construcción binaria gente – naturaleza, para dar paso a una unidad indivisible en donde la gente se incluye como parte de un todo con su entorno. Influye esto el modo de construcción de su cuerpo físico y emocional, así como el modo en que perciben, definen y categorizan la totalidad del páramo y sus elementos constitutivos, marcando una fuerte relación de identidad como grupo humano particular en relación con su entorno |
| Resumen en inglés | A definition and categorization of the highland paramo environment mada by the traditional inhabitants of the San Rafael Parish, in the Rangel Municipality in the State of Mérida. Starting with the initial idea and defiition of space, place and landscape proposed by authors sucha as Tilley (1994), Mitchell (2000) and Ingold (2000), it becomes apparent that the people/paramo relationship transcends that of the more general people/nature interaction. This results in the emergence of an indivisible unit in which the people are included as part of a whole with their environment. Such categorization influences the construction of physical and emotional paradigms, as well as the perception, definition and categorization of the entire paramo and its constituent elements. There is a strong identification between this human group and the characteristics of its containing environment |
