Resumen en español | Objetivo: aplicar una estrategia educativa para diabéticos tipo 2 que asisten a la Unidad de Medicina Familiar (umf) no. 20 del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (imss), con el propósito de mejorar su conocimiento sobre medicamentos hipoglucemiantes y por tanto la adherencia terapéutica y el control glucémico. Material y métodos: estudio cuasi experimental en el que participaron 20 pacientes con Diabetes mellitus tipo 2, de ambos turnos. Se les aplicó, con previo consentimiento informado, un cuestionario al inicio y al final de la estrategia educativa. En el cuestionario se exploraron aspectos sociodemográficos, apego a tratamiento farmacológico, nivel de conocimientos sobre fármacos, y se registraron las cifras de glucosa en ayuno de los últimos tres meses. Resultados: en el grupo de estudio se observó una edad de más de 60 años (85%), 50% hombre y 50% mujer; 60% casado, 20% viudo, 55% pensionado, 35% dedicado al hogar, y 60% con primaria. El nivel de conocimiento sobre medicamentos hipoglucemiantes antes de la estrategia educativa fue menor a 60%, con una media de calificación de 1.12, y al final mejoró a suficiente 60% y óptimo 40%, con una media de calificación de 1.55 (p=0.000). Antes de la estrategia se observó una adherencia terapéutica de 10%, y posteriormente, de 80%, así como un control glucémico inicial de 30% y final de 85%. Conclusiones: los participantes en quienes se implementó una estrategia educativa aumentaron significativamente sus conocimientos sobre los medicamentos hipoglucemiantes, con una mayor adherencia terapéutica y una mejora en el control glucémico |
Resumen en inglés | Objective: apply a health education strategy in patients with Diabetes mellitus type 2 who attend The Family Medicine Unit No. 20 (fmu) of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (imss), in order to improve their knowledge of hypoglycemic drugs and therefore the therapeutic adherence and glycemic control. Material and methods: a quasi-experimental study in which 20 patients with Diabetes mellitus type 2, from both shifts, participated. It was applied a questionnaire with prior informed consent, at the beginning and at the end of the strategy. The questionnaire asked about sociodemographic aspects, adherence to drug therapy, level of knowledge about drugs, and there were recorded glucose numbers in fast of the last three months. Results: the study group noted an age of more than 60 years (85%), 50% men and 50% women; 60% married, 20% widow/widower, 55% retired, 35% dedicated to their home, and 60% with elementary school educational level. The level of knowledge about hypoglycemic medicines before the strategy was less than 60%, with an average of 1.12, and eventually at the end of the strategy it improved up to 60% and an optimal of 40%, with an average of 1.55 (p=0.000). Before the strategy, it was observed a therapeutic adherence of 10%, and later, of 80%, as well as an initial glycemic control of 30% and at the end of 85%. Conclusions: participants whom an educational strategy was implemented significantly increased their knowledge about hypoglycemic medicines, with greater therapeutic adherence and an improvement in glycemic control |
