| Resumen en inglés | The objectives of this study were to identify and describe the main socio-economic elements associated with : to objectively describe its situation, as it is an important ! ! } in 2006 in order to obtain the basic information. The interest groups were beekeepers with up to 20 hives, 21 to 50 hives and over 50 hives. In average, beekeepers are over the age of 18 with a low educational level, the apiary consists of about 20 beehives on average, the type of land is predominantly private property; more than half of the beekeepers belong to some association. Beekeeping is a secondary activity due to the time devoted to it, the resources invested and the net income derived from it, but it has potential for improving productivity through changes in its management practices; most producers have a positive attitude towards the adoption of technological innovations, but the lack of resources has limited this process. There was evidence of a low correlation between yield per hive and the level of schooling of the beekeeper, as well as their seniority in the activity.
