| Resumen en inglés | The present article synthesizes the operation and actions of the Recife’s Exposed Wheel in the late eighteenth century. This also holds forth about the dynamics which involved the host and enslavement/re-enslavement of exposed children in that wheel. A precise analysis of the highlighted institution let us evidence that many of the children were abandoned by the tragic risk of being enslaved or even re-enslaved in the institution itself. However, this fact contradicted the law of 1775, which guaranteed the right of freedom to the children who were enslaved in the institution that should free them |
| Resumen en portugués | O presente artigo sintetiza o funcionamento e ações da Roda dos expostos do Recife no final do século XVIII. Discute as dinâmicas que envolveram o acolhimento e escravização/reescravização de crianças expostas na referida Roda. Uma análise precisa da instituição em destaque, nos deixa indícios que muitas das crianças abandonadas passaram pelo trágico risco de serem escravizadas ou até mesmo reescravizadas na própria instituição. No entanto, tal fato contrariava a lei de1775, aqual garantia o direito de liberdade aos ingênuos, ou seja, crianças foram escravizadas na instituição que deveria libertá-las |
