| Spanish abstract | La violencia física es una de las más investigadas en los campos de la salud debido a que sus características y efectos son innegables. Pero la violencia psicológica puede pasar desapercibida por ser un acontecimiento mucho más sutiles y tener manifestaciones que no siempre son evidentes. Uno de los términos que permitirán desvelar nuevos elementos en la violencia psicológica es el gaslighting, mismo que no se considera completamente esclarecido como constructo psicológico, razón por la que se emprendió una revisión teórica. Método: se realizó una revisión sistemática con la herramienta CONRICyT y Google Académico haciendo una revisión de 302 artículos de los cuales sólo el 10% se logró utilizar debido a que el resto de los artícu-los se encontraban relacionados con otros campos o presentaban características para incrementar la definición teórica del constructo. Conclusión: gaslighting es el proceso intencional para hacer pensar a una persona que está perdiendo la cordura mediante la negación, la mentira, uso de falsa información y descalificación de los sentimientos y percepciones de la persona que es víctima del gaslighting, entre otras características y consecuencias |
| English abstract | Physical violence is one of the most researched in the fields of health because their characteristics and effects are obvious. But psychological violence can go unnoti-ced for being a much more subtle event and has mani-festations that are not always obvious. One of the terms that will reveal new elements in the psychological violence is gaslighting, so far it has not been considered fully clarified as psychological construct, reason why a theoretical review was undertaken. Method: A systema-tic review with the CONRICyT tool and Google Scho-lar brought back a total of 302 articles that were reviewed, among them only 10% remain in our research because most of them were related to other fields or did not had features useful to increase the theoretical defini-tion of the construct. Conclusion: gaslighting is a systematic and intentional process that drives a person to believe that he or she is losing his/her sanity; it works through denial, lying, use of false information and disqualification of feelings and perceptions of the person who is the victim of gaslighting, among other characteristics and consequences |
