| Spanish abstract | pintada por Alfredo Zalce en 1951 con el auspicio del Museo Michoacano y el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes. La obra, que muchos críticos consideran su mural mejor logrado, se ubica en la escalera del Museo Regional Michoacano y ocupa una superficie de 135m2 . El objetivo del presente texto es el de estudiar la obra no sólo a partir de su composición y temática, sino también a traves de la trayectoria profesional de Zalce, del contenido de sus obras; de las ideas e influencias pictóricas de las que abrevó, así como de la influencia que recibió de los muralistas mexicanos y otros artistas y escritores afiliados a la Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios (LEAR) y al Taller de Gráfica Popular (TGP) |
| English abstract | This collaboration is an analysis of “The Defenders of National Integrity”, a mural painted by Alfredo Zalce in 1951 which was funded by the Michoacan Museum and the National Institute of Fine Arts. The mural, which many critics consider to be Zalce’s best, is located in the stairway of the Michoacan Regional Museum, and measures 135m². The objective of this study is not only from the perspective of its composition and theme but also from the trajectory of Zalce’s professionalism in the content of his works, of the ideas and pictorial influences he united, and of the influence of other Mexican muralists and other artists and writers affiliated with the Writer and Artist’s Revolutionary League (LEAR) and the Popular Graphics Workshop (TGP) |
