| Spanish abstract | Relacionar algunos acontecimientos extraordinarios no deseados –en especial la pandemia por el Covid-19– con el presente amplio (término tomado de Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht) y con el Trabajo Social. Los sucesos extraordinarios irrumpen en la cotidianeidad provocando reacciones variadísimas. Cuando tales sucesos nos abruman –por su recurrencia, su simultaneidad, sus gravísimas secuelas, su extensión, etcétera– percibimos que el presente se ensancha cada vez más y la sensación de impotencia nos quita todo pro-tagonismo para incidir en el futuro. Entonces, cada cual habrá de identificar y elegir su ámbito de acción. El Trabajo Social, como actividad profesional, permite identificar en qué y cómo se ha de llevar a cabo una intervención social –siempre con la participación activa de los destinatarios–, lo que brinda la oportunidad de provocar cambios significativos en el punto donde convergen una situación-problema, un sujeto y un entorno concreto, para la mejora de nuestro hábitat y de las interrelaciones humanas |
| English abstract | Our objective is to link some undesired extraordinary events—particularly the Covid-19 pandemic— with the broad present (a term used by Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht) and social work. When these events overwhelm us —because of their recurrence, their simultaneity, their serious aftermaths, their duration, etcetera— we allow the present to widen increasingly and our feeling of helplessness removes us of the ability to influence the future. Thus, every person will have to identify and determine their scope of action.Social work as a professional activity, among other options, allows to identify how and where to perform a social intervention —always with the active participation of addressees—, which provides the opportu-nity to cause significant changes at the point where a situation-problem, an individual and a particular environment intersect, for the benefit of our habitat and of human interrelations |
