| Spanish abstract | El presente escrito presenta una lectura actualizada de la confrontación platónica de República I, II, III y X con los poetas. Específicamente, frente a las lecturas tradicionales que tienden a focalizar el plano ontológico, este escrito indagará en la advertencia platónica sobre la plasticidad y, por ende, funcionalidad de las imágenes. Se propone como aporte reconducir la crítica de los poetas a uno de los tópicos centrales de Rep., la tensión entre apariencia y realidad, para dar cuenta de su conexión con las formas de (auto)engaño en la πρᾶξις. En este sentido, el objetivo es mostrar que la capacidad de los mitos para formar el carácter y el imaginario social, como un dispositivo de poder, se ancla en los tipos de accesos y los modos de saber que orientan la πρᾶξις. Esto nos permitirá entonces repensar un tópico aún actual: la capacidad de los εἴδωλα, en un sentido amplio, para producir sujetos y valores sociales, así como formas de saber práctico. |
| English abstract | This paper presents an updated reading of the Platonic confrontation of Republic I, II, III and X with poets. Specifically, opposing the traditional readings that tend to focus on the ontological plane, this writing will investigate the Platonic warning about the plasticity and, consequently, the functionality of images. It is proposed as a contribution to redirect the criticism of poets to one of the central topics of Rep., the tension between appearance and reality, to account for their connection with the forms of (self)deception in πρᾶξις. In this sense, the objective is to show that the capacity of myths to form character and the social imaginary, as a dispositive of power, is anchored in the types of access and the ways of knowing that guide πρᾶξις. This will then allow us to rethink a current topic: the capacity of εἴδωλα, in a broad sense, to produce subjects and social values, as well as the ways of practical knowledge. |
