| Spanish abstract | Se ha dado en nuestros tiempos un fenómeno sin precedentes, a saber, el acelerado abandono de creencias y prácticas religiosas que estaban vigentes desde hace siglos y que inspiraban una cultura considerada hegemónica en gran parte del mundo. En este artículo, Alejandro Llano analiza las raíces ilustradas de este proceso de secularización. Llano sostiene que la gran paradoja de la modernidad estriba en su capacidad autodestructiva cuyo epicentro se localiza justo en la secularización. Contra el radicalismo secularista, Llano defiende que la sociedad democrática debería optar por la libertad religiosa |
| English abstract | In recent times we are experiencing a new phenomenon with no precedents, that is, the accelerated abandonment of religious beliefs and practices that had otherwise remained valid for centuries and inspired a culture considered hegemonic in great part of the world. In this article, Alejandro Llano traces the roots of this secularization process back to the Enlightenment. Llano maintains that the great paradox of modernity consists in its self-destructive capacity, which epicenter is precisely located in secularization. Against this secular radicalism, Llano argues for a democratic society that should opt for religious freedom |
