| Spanish abstract | Desde 1991, cuando las repúblicas bálticas (Estonia, Letonia y Lituania) obtuvieron su independencia de la Unión de Repúblicas Socialistas Soviéticas, establecieron cuatro objetivos fundamentales en el marco de su política exterior: asegurar su independencia, iniciar con un arduo proceso de transformación postsocialista, integrarse en la Unión Europea y en la Organización del Tratado del Atlántico Norte (OTAN), así como rechazar cualquier intento por parte de Rusia para incorporarlos nuevamente en su zona de influencia de post guerra fría (en su cercano próximo). En este artículo se analizan los intereses de Estonia, Letonia y Lituania frente su integración en la UE y en la OTAN, evaluando la opinión pública báltica frente al "regreso de sus sociedades a Europa", y se ofrece una reflexión en torno a los problemas que enfrentan las minorías étnicas, principalmente polacas, rusas, bielorrusas y ucranianas in situ |
| English abstract | Since 1991 when the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) became independent of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, they established four fundamental objectives as part of its foreign policy. Ensure its independence starting with an arduous process of transformation to a post-socialist country. Achieve membership to the European Union (EU) and in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Reject any attempt by Russia in order to be incorporated back into its zone of influence of post-Cold war (to the next closest). In this article, the interest of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania against their integration into the EU and NATO are analyzed, evaluating Baltic's public opinion against the "return of their societies in Europe" and a reflection on the problems faced by the ethnic minorities, mainly Polish, in situ Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian in situ |
