| English abstract | From a perspective that emphasizes the productive character of language, heteronormativity is approached as a sexuality standard that regulates the way western society is organized. Although this regulation is very powerful, there are individuals who escape the heterosexual norm. One of these groups is referred to, in biomedical discourse, as transsexuals. These individuals part with what has been assigned to them by the heterosexual norm and rebuild their bodies through sexual reassignment surgery. P aradoxically, while they do not identify with what has been socially assigned to their bodies, these individuals seek to adjust to the heterosexual norm by re-designing their bodies and behaviors. In the perspective of the complex questioning, this study a ims to discuss the aforementioned processes, using post-structuralist gender and cultural studies as a reference and exploring specifically the articulation between body, sexuality, and heteronormativity |
| Portuguese abstract | A heteronormatividade, desde uma perspectiva que enfatiza o caráter produtivo da linguagem, é problematizada como um padrão de sexualidade que regula o modo como a sociedade ocidental está organizada. Apesar da força dessa regulação há indivíduos que escapam à norma heterossexual. Um desses grupos é designado pelo discurso biomédico como transexuais. Estes indivíduos rompem com o que lhes é designado pela norma heterossexual e reconstroem seus corpos através da cirurgia de redesignação sexual. Paradoxalmente, ao mesmo tempo em qu e não se identificam com o que está socialmente designado para os seus corpos, estes indivíduos buscam adequar-se a norma heterossexual, redesenhando seus corpos e seus comportamentos. No âmbito dessa complexa problemática, este trabalho objetiva discutir esses processos, tomando como referência os estudos de gênero e culturais pós-estruturalistas, explorando especialmente a articulação corpo, sexualidade e heteronormatividade |
