| Resumen en español | As reflexões aqui apresentadas objetivam identificar algumas representações dos povos indígenas do Tocantins presentes nas narrativas institucionais relativas à identidade do estado, especificamente nos produtos da Fundação Cultural do estado do Tocantins, que substitui a Secretaria de Cultura do Estado1 e da Secretaria de Indústria, Comércio e Turismo. Foram analisados materiais de divulgação turística das belezas naturais e dos povos indígenas (folders e filmes), de divulgação dos saberes das populações locais (almanaques), o hino do Tocantins, o brasão da bandeira e livros sobre a “história” do estado. Uma inserção a campo, na aldeia Porteira do povo Xerente, permitiu registrar algumas interpretações nativas sobre o material em circulação. Outrora associados ao sertão selvagem a ser totalizado pela nação, os povos indígenas passam a ser a representação positiva dos traços pluriculturais do estado e das belezas naturais |
| Resumen en inglés | The study here presented aims to identify some representations of the indigenous people of Tocantins, found in institutional narratives, related to the state identity, particularly in the products of the Cultural Foundation of the State of Tocantins, that substitutes the Department of Culture and the Department of Industry, Commerce and Tourism. Touristic materials reporting on the natural beauty spots and indigenous peoples (folders and films), the knowledge of the local indigenous peoples (almanacs) the anthem of Tocantins; the shield on the flag and books on the “history” of the State were examined. A field visit to Porteira village of the Xerente indigenous people, made possible the recording of some indigenous interpretations of these materials. Formerly associated with the wild hinterland to be totalized by the nation, the indigenous people have becone the positive representation of multicultural traits of the state and and its natural beauty spots |
