| Spanish abstract | En este artículo se plantea el estudio del miedo como un objeto de análisis sociológico en el marco de las reconfiguraciones sociohistóricas de la modernidad. El objetivo radica en dar cuenta de las transformaciones y variaciones de esta experiencia social, a partir de una mirada que va más allá de la coyuntura epocal y se traslada a la significación del miedo en la llamada modernidad inicial, para así poder establecer un criterio comparativo con la modernidad reciente. En este sentido, se establece cómo el proceso de individuación ha radicalizado ciertos temores dirigidos al propio yo y a la precariedad del cuerpo, como el miedo al envejecimiento, el dolor, la enfermedad y la muerte |
| English abstract | This article posits the study of fear as an object of sociological analysis in the framework of the socio-historical reconfigurations of modernity. The author aims to explain the transformations and variations of this social experience based on a look that goes beyond the current moment and moves into the signification of fear in the so-called initial modernity, and thus establish a comparative criterion with recent modernity. In this sense, the article establishes how the process of individuation has radicalized certain fears about the self and the precariousness of the body, such as the fear of aging, pain, disease and death |
