| English abstract | This article proposes an approach to the implementation of the actions of the Beijing Platform for Action, specifically in relation to objectives 7 and 8, that is, the institutional mechanisms for the advancement of women and their political participation in Colombia. For this purpose, an analysis was carried out based on several elements: the background of the gender institutional framework in Colombia, the implementation, objectives and functions of the institutional gender mechanism in the country, the political participation of women under the impulse of the institutional framework, the application of the methodology of the Gender Inequality Index of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the regions of Colombia and the institutional progress of gender in the regions with the least inequality. Given the above, it was possible to determine that the low political participation of women is related to the low gender institutional framework in the country. |
| Spanish abstract | El presente artículo plantea una aproximación a la implementación de las acciones de la Plataforma de Acción de Beijing, específicamente en lo relativo a los objetivos 7 y 8, es decir, los mecanismos institucionales para el adelanto de la mujer y su participación política en Colombia. Para ello, se realizó un análisis soportado en diversos elementos: los antecedentes de la institucionalidad de género en Colombia, la implementa- ción, objetivos y funciones del mecanismo institucional de género en el país, la participación política de las mujeres bajo el impulso de la institucionalidad, la aplicación de la metodología del Índice de Desigualdad de Género del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD) en las regiones de Colombia y el avance institucional de género en las regiones con menor desigualdad. Dado lo anterior, se pudo determinar que la baja participación política de la mujer se relaciona con la baja institucionalidad de género en el país. |
